Project
Remediation of former industrial area including landfills, petroleum storage yard, waste transfer stations, a scrap yard and railway.
Contaminant
Hydrocarbons (free phase and dissolved) in soils and groundwater. Japanese Knotweed.
Challenges
Site management and real time validation reporting with audit trail.
Integrating remediation with on-site construction activities.
Conditioning and treating wet contaminated soils from capillary fringe.
Churngold Solution
Three phase programme comprising excavation and ex-situ bio-treatment of circa 27,000m3 of TPH impacted soils, on-site chemical treatment of Japanese Knotweed, removal of floatng free product from exposed groundwater table. In-situ treatment of 68,000m3 of groundwater impacted with dissolved phase hydrocarbons utilizing state of the art bioelectrolysis. Slow release oxygen compound spread in base of excavations to aid bio-remediation.
