First major remediation contract of its kind in South Africa, won with alternative bid against a specified air sparge vacuum extraction remediation strategy.

Contaminant

Free product oil contamination in shallow sands aquifer. Wide range of volatile and semi-volatile dissolved phase contaminants in groundwater and pesticide contamination in soils.

Challenges

Design of barrier wall to provide structural support to adjacent buildings and prevent recontamination of sitefrom off-site impacted areas. Hitting stringent risk based site specific clean up levels for dissolved phase contaminants. Design support and operation of an overseas project.

Innovative in-situ groundwater remediation technology Oxygen generation and delivery systems (electrolytic and direct infusion) utilized to achieve remedial target concentrations with projected £300k cost saving and 12 months reduction in timeframe.
