avonmouthfcA donation of £5,000 from the Churngold Environment Fund will help transform a neglected piece of wasteland next to Avonmouth Football Club into a fenced recreational area, a safe distance away from the pitches and car park.

The development is part of the Football Club's ambitious plans for the future, including modernising the Club building, to meet growing demand for community recreation and sporting facilities.

Avonmouth Football Club was founded  in 1919  and, after a series of moves, returned to the King George Recreation Ground in Avonmouth Road in 1986.

It has three senior, one veterans and three youth teams as well as a newly formed soccer tots club for ages three to five.

The Churngold Environment Fund was established in 1997 by the Avonmouth-based company to help small groups in Bristol, North and South Somerset, Bath and South Gloucestershire to enhance community spaces and protect the environment.  So far over £200,000 has been distributed to local causes and an endowment fund exceeding £250,000 has been built up within the Fund.
