Rob Roughley, Midlands Director takes on 2,400km challenge for Testicular Cancer Awareness Month

This April, to mark Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, Rob Roughley, Midlands Director at Churngold Construction, is completing an extraordinary challenge, running 2,400km to represent the 2,400 men diagnosed with testicular cancer in the UK each year. Rob, who was diagnosed with the disease on his 39th birthday in December 2020, is aiming to raise £5,000 for Baggy Trousers UK, a volunteer charity that supported him through treatment and for which he now serves as Chair.

Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men, yet awareness remains low. Through Baggy Trousers, Rob delivers in-person and digital talks on mental health and testicular cancer awareness, helping men spot the early signs and seek medical help sooner. His previous talks have already had life-changing impacts, with attendees identifying lumps early and receiving timely treatment.

"After a tough few years, my diagnosis came as a huge shock. But catching it early made all the difference. Now, I’m committed to raising awareness and encouraging men to check themselves regularly. The impact of these talks is real. Guys have found lumps, sought medical advice, and received early treatment. That’s why I’m encouraging businesses, especially in male-dominated industries like construction, to book a session and start the conversation about men’s health." – Rob Roughley

This isn’t Rob’s first endurance feat. A year after his diagnosis, he completed a 8 mile run and 18 mile cycle duathlon every day for 14 days, raising over £10,500 for Cancer Research UK. Now, with his latest 2,400km challenge, he’s determined to push himself once again for a cause close to his heart.
