Permit to Dig (PTD) Workshop – Led by Tom Jefferies (Engineering Manager, VSSP)

• Four separate workshops were delivered to maximise personal engagement. Every Churngold operative on site attended, including two Vacuum Excavation teams.

• The workshops provided a complete breakdown of the PTD process, clearly identifying the roles and responsibilities of all parties involved – from the PTD producer and underground service co-ordinator through to the end user (operatives on the ground).

• A case study of a permit that failed to meet required standards was undertaken. Attendees worked together to identify the weaknesses within the permit and discuss corrective actions.

• The workshops increased confidence among operatives, empowering them to challenge and reject inadequate permits so they can be re-issued to an acceptable standard.
